It’s official!…Overthinking is a TRAP!
It’s OFFICIAL!’…..OVERTHINKING IS A TRAP!
So what can we do about it?
Ever find yourself staring at a text message for 20 minutes, rewriting it five times, only to delete the whole thing?
Or replaying an awkward comment you made three years ago while trying to fall asleep?
Overthinking tricks us into believing that worrying equals problem-solving.
In reality, it just stalls our actions, drains our energy, and leaves us stuck in “analysis paralysis.”
Here are 5 quick ways to break the loop today:
1. Stop believing everything you think.
When a negative loop starts, play lawyer. Ask yourself: “Is this thought based on cold facts, or am I just predicting the worst?”
2. Distract your hands.
Your brain can’t ruminate easily when your body is busy. Knit, sketch, cook, or build something. Engaging your hands forces your mind to pivot to the present.
# 3. Change your environment.
Stagnant spaces keep minds stuck. If you’re spiralling on the sofa, stand up. Move to another room, step outside for fresh air, or go for a quick walk.
4. Set a 60-second rule.
Overthinking thrives on too much time. For low-stakes daily choices (picking an outfit, choosing dinner, drafting an email), give yourself one minute. Decide and move on.
5. Do a “brain dump.”
Thoughts feel massive when they are trapped in your head. Write down every single fear or to-do on a scrap piece of paper. Seeing it visually strips away its power
